Frequently Asked Questions
Is n8n free to self-host?
n8n's self-hosted community edition is fair-code licensed and free to run on your own server — you pay only for the VPS, from €6.99/month. Workflows run without per-execution billing.
Do I need Docker experience?
Not to get started — the one-click installer sets up Docker and deploys n8n via Docker Compose automatically. Basic Docker knowledge helps later for updates.
Can I migrate an existing n8n instance?
Yes. Export your workflows and credentials from your current instance and import them on your PetroSky VPS. Support can point you to the right steps if you get stuck.
Does n8n get HTTPS automatically?
Yes, if you provide a domain: the installer checks your DNS, then configures a Caddy reverse proxy with an automatic Let's Encrypt certificate. Without a domain you start over HTTP and can add TLS later.
Where are the servers located?
Equinix Quebec City (Canada) and Equinix Paris (France), with USA and UK locations coming soon. Both facilities offer low latency to the North American and European services your workflows call.
